Cascada

MSA Visuals / Memo Akten provided technical direction and interaction design for Nexus Interactive Arts, on a 16m tall digital, interactive waterfall in Quito, Ecuador.

The installation was commissioned by Coca-Cola Latin America. It consists of a realistic simulation of 3D fluids, pouring from 5 storeys high mimicking a giant waterfall. The waterfall reacts to visitors movements and responds to audio input when live bands perform in the venue. While the behaviour is a realistic simulation of 3D fluids based on accurate physical modelling, the visuals are highly stylised to abstract  and accentuate the motion of the fluids. Visitors are tracked using a stereoscopic camera, and they can play with the virtual flow as if it were real.

The installation runs on completely custom software, can be controlled remotely, currently runs on a 16m x 4m LED wall and has been designed to tour.
